Technical Questions / Really poor quality tires
« on: November 30, 2016, 01:26:17 PM »
Time to gripe about the bad quality of tires that Glastron uses:  I have a 2016 205 with TrailStar tires.  I have owned the rig for less than 15 months and two of the tires are ruined due to tread separation.  The trailer has less than 2000 miles.  Neither Glastron or TrailStar will offer any relief.  Just as a comparison; my previous boat was a BassCat that came with Good Year tires that lasted well.
Pretty disappointing to spend $50,000 on a boat and have to replace the tires after less than 2 years.

I have an update:  The dealer manager reimbursed for the two tires with separated treads.  Went to 8 ply tires.  Will add tire covers to keep sun off of them.  Hopefully problem solved.

Technical Questions / Bilge heater
« on: November 27, 2016, 10:24:46 AM »
I have a GTSF 205 with a 300 hp Volvo engine. If is stored in a boat cradle in an open side boat house.  Are bilge heaters such as the "extreme" brand adequate to protect the water pump and heat exchanger from freezing?  What size is appropriate?   I am located on Cedar Creek Lake near Dallas.
Thanks

Technical Questions / Winterizing 2016 GTSF 205
« on: November 27, 2016, 10:20:37 AM »
I have a 2016 GTSF 205 with a 300 hp Volvo engine.  I am supposed to remove the water pump hose and the two heat exchanger hoses and drain the water to protect from freezing.  Does anyone know how I can gain access to these hoses?  I can see the top of the heat exchanger but I can't see the water pump at the bottom of the engine.  Does the rear seat back come off?  This boat is stored in a boat lift in an open boat house.
thanks
